    Brandon is an experienced project and program manager, a seasoned policy analyst, and an incorrigible information sponge. He recently completed a career in the Marine Corps where he led test and evaluation efforts for acquisition projects with congressional oversight, created an education and training roadmap for technical skills programs, and was fortunate enough to lead and work alongside some of our country’s greatest people. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on finance from the University of Florida, completed his MBA at Virginia Tech, and is a Project Management Professional. He is based in Anchorage, AK.

    Laura Cullen is passionate about educating others on the benefits of building with wood. Prior to joining WoodWorks, Laura worked as a structural designer for seven years. Her previous structural design experience focused primarily on mixed-use and multi-family structures, as well as K-12 schools. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Berry College. Laura is based in the Atlanta area, where she is a member of CREW Atlanta, a business network for the commercial real estate market, and a 2018 graduate of Leadership CREW.

    A licensed Professional Engineer in Kentucky, Anthony received his BS and MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky, both with structural specialization. Before joining WoodWorks, he spent more than a decade working as a design consultant. He has experience in structural design, 3D modeling and detailing (REVIT), construction administration, inspections, and project management for a variety of project types, including: healthcare, office, retail, K-12/higher education, historical, industrial/distillery, municipal, military, multi-family, and mixed-used buildings. Anthony is also a Major in the United States Army Reserve where, as an Engineer Officer, he has held various leadership and staff positions.

    John is a licensed structural engineer in Maryland. Before joining Woodworks, he enjoyed working on various projects in the capital region for clients like the Smithsonian Institute and The National Parks Service, collaborating with architects and other engineers along the way. John is a member of Engineers Without Borders, enjoys woodworking in his free time and is passionate about the sustainable aspects of wood construction. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Penn State University close to where he grew up, and a Master of Civil Engineering Degree from Johns Hopkins University with a focus in Structural Engineering.

    As WoodWorks’ Southeast Regional Director, Jeff provides free technical support to developers and design/construction teams working on commercial or multi-family wood buildings. With both structural engineering and construction expertise, he provides assistance and education on topics that range from heights and areas to acoustics, construction management, durability and local code requirements. It is this breadth of knowledge in a regional context that has enabled Jeff to support some of the most innovative mass timber and light-frame projects in the U.S. South. It also makes him a sought-after speaker at AEC and university events, a resource for Authorities Having Jurisdiction, and a participant in initiatives supporting the local advancement of wood building design. He has a bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from the University of Florida and served five years in the U.S. Air Force.

    Marc is a licensed Structural and Professional Engineer in California, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and received his BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from UMass Amherst. Prior to WoodWorks, he was a Senior Structural Engineer involved primarily with seismic design and analysis of new and existing buildings. Marc has experience providing structural calculations, plans, specifications, construction administration and structural plan review services for a wide range of building types, including multi-family/mixed-use, education, commercial, office, institutional, and military.

    Jason has worked with great people, built buildings, managed projects, been a business developer, and served in the Marines. In a unique experience, he walked to Manhattan under the East River on a project pre-bid site tour and his construction experiences have been quite a ride! He is passionate about the wood industry’s impact to support a sustainable future. A life-long learner, Jason completed his MBA at Virginia Tech, BS in Business Administration (marketing minor) at Norwich University, a Professional Education Certificate in Construction Management at UC Davis, and is a designated design-build professional. He has enjoyed his experiences in the wood industry, general contracting, structural precast concrete, and residential construction. His success today stems from experiences learned working on a dairy farm as a kid and being on a 3-13 high school varsity baseball team. Based in Greensboro, NC he manages the eastern US field team and the construction management program for WoodWorks.

    Jessica brings to our team her enthusiasm for the construction industry and over a decade of experience in architectural design, structural engineering, project management, and acoustics—having worked on projects across the U.S. and Canada. In joining WoodWorks, Jessica proudly becomes the third generation of her family to work in the wood products industry. A creative and analytical thinker, Jessica thrives when solving complex problems, creating, and talking “all things design.” She holds a Master of Civil Engineering from Clemson University and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from UNC Charlotte. She is based in the Charlotte area.

    Momo is passionate about building sustainable structures and enjoys helping developers and design teams find elegant wood solutions that are also cost effective. A licensed Professional Engineer in New York and Ontario, she received her M.Eng. in Civil Engineering from MIT and a BASc from the University of Toronto. She has experience working in both the U.S. and Canada, and, prior to WoodWorks, was a Project Manager and Structural Engineer for commercial, healthcare and institutional projects. Momo is based in Brooklyn, New York, where she also volunteers with high school students to foster their interest in engineering.

    Jason Bahr, PE, has more than 20 years of experience as a structural engineer and a passion for sustainable building. He has a breadth of expertise in preparing structural calculations and design documents for educational building projects, along with residential construction and remodeling experience. As a timber frame designer early in his career, he gained an immense appreciation for the beauty and resilience of wood as a structural material. Always a creative problem solver and enthusiastic collaborator, Jason has worked with multidisciplinary teams throughout his career to move forward impactful projects. Jason holds combined Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University.

    Mark received his BS in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structures from Lehigh University, and has worked as an engineer in many capacities. He spent 11 years as a practicing structural engineer, eight years as a field engineer with Simpson Strong-Tie and six years in business development for a structural engineering firm. His structural engineering project experience includes residential, retail, hospitality, education, aviation, churches, movie theaters, renovation of existing structures, and post-installed anchorage to concrete. Mark is a licensed Professional Engineer in the states of Texas and Oklahoma.

    Chelsea is a licensed structural engineer in the state of California. She received her BS in Engineering from Harvey Mudd College and MS in Civil Engineering from Stanford University. Chelsea spent nine years in structural design consulting prior to joining WoodWorks. Her experience is in a variety of sectors including residential, higher education and retrofit of existing and historic structures. She is passionate about sustainability and the use of wood as a building material to reduce the embodied carbon emissions of structures.

    David holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. Before joining WoodWorks, he held various positions involving the design and analysis of structures, both for an engineering consulting firm and government entities such as cities and the Armed Forces. David’s experience includes preparation of calculation packages, design details, site layout, and project management. Most recently, he worked in the engineering software industry.

    Janelle has been an active building technology consultant since 2002, primarily in the area of wood technology, investigation and design of building envelope components, and construction for both historic and contemporary structures. She earned her BS in Architectural Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and her MS in Wood Science and Technology from the University of California at Berkeley. Janelle is a licensed professional engineer in California.

    Mike received his Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo in 1979 and has 37 years of structural engineering design, plan check/peer review and investigative experience. He has been involved in the production of engineering calculations and construction documents, construction administration, field investigations and report writing for educational, commercial, industrial, medical, institutional, residential and military projects utilizing all types of building materials. Mike is a licensed Structural Engineer in the State of California.

    Dr. Breneman is a licensed Structural Engineer and Professional Engineer in the State of California, a PE in the State of Washington, and Senior Technical Director – Mass Timber in the Project Resources & Solutions Division of WoodWorks. He received bachelor’s and master’s from the University of Florida and a doctorate from Stanford University. Scott has experience with structural design, seismic rehabilitation, and peer review of projects varying from single-family homes to high-rise hospitals. He is Past-President of the Structural Engineers Association of Central California, an associate member of the seismic subcommittee of ASCE 7 Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures, and a member of the PRG 320 CLT product standard committee. At WoodWorks, he provides project support and education to individuals designing wood buildings and oversees the development of technical educational content.

    Ashley is a licensed professional and structural engineer in the state of California, having worked as a structural consultant in both the San Francisco Bay Area and Spokane, Washington before joining WoodWorks in 2020. While her experience includes a wide range of building types and materials, her specialty during her consulting career was midrise wood-frame construction over podium structures. Throughout her career, Ashley has also been involved in various professional and code-development committees. Ashley received a bachelor’s of science from Cornell University and a master’s of science from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

    Karen has been a consulting structural engineer, project manager and team leader for over twenty-seven years. Her experience includes new construction, additions, renovations, historic preservation, blast and progressive collapse, finite element modeling, and structural investigation and repair for government and private facilities from concept through construction. Projects have included health care, office, retail, K-12 and higher education, religious, theater, historical, industrial, military, multi-family, parking, residential and mixed-use buildings. Karen is a registered professional engineer in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia, and has a BAE, Structural Emphasis, from Pennsylvania State University.

    As both a licensed Architect and Structural Engineer in the state of California, Melissa has a broad perspective on the industry, as well as technical design expertise from seismic to hurricane regions. Throughout her career, she has designed and engineered a variety of buildings, including civic, educational, luxury residential, military, museums, and transportation facilities. In addition to building design, her knowledge includes research related to wood’s light carbon footprint, biophilic properties, and contributions to healthy indoor environments and wildfire resiliency. Melissa is actively involved in the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and Vice-Chair of ULI’s national Sustainable Development Council. Through WoodWorks’ ULI Greenprint Innovation Partnership, she assists developers pursuing timber projects throughout the US.

    Bruce is a 25-year plus veteran of the wood products and construction industries. Based in Charlotte, NC, Bruce has over a decade of tenure with WoodWorks. He shares his broad experience through education and technical support on a wide range of building types, including multi-family, commercial, office, civic/recreational, and mass timber. His multi-faceted career includes architectural design, structural design, project consulting, product/market development, and various roles within the engineered wood products industry.

    Terry Malone is a licensed structural engineer in Washington, Oregon and Arizona. Prior to joining WoodWorks, he was a principal in consulting structural engineering firms in Washington and Oregon, conducted third-party structural plan reviews and has served as a faculty member at St. Martin’s College in Lacey, Washington. Terry has over 40 years of wood design experience and has taken an active role as a presenter providing seminars at state and local ICC chapters and professional engineering organizations. Terry is author of The Analysis of Irregular Shaped Structures: Diaphragms and Shear Walls, published by McGraw-Hill and ICC. He is a member of the Structural Engineers’ Association of Arizona and the International Code Council.

    Ricky is WoodWorks’ in-house expert on tall wood buildings, providing analysis and guidance on architectural, fire and life safety, and structural design topics related to tall mass timber projects. He supports the AEC community both directly and collaboratively with WoodWorks Regional Directors, and guides the development of education and resources related to tall wood buildings in the U.S. Prior to this emphasis, Ricky’s role encompassed all building types and wood systems. He also has extensive experience in lead engineer roles related to structural design, project management and construction administration. Ricky is very active as a member of numerous committees and councils related to building design and is the Executive Director of the Structural Engineers Association of Vermont.

    Mandy is a digital marketing expert with more than 15 years of experience that includes website creation/operation/analytics, social media strategy/execution, customer experience strategy, digital video editing, and graphic design. Her previous roles have included Senior Web Operations Manager and E-Learning Associated Producer, both for the National Council of State Nursing Boards. Most recently, she has been working as a consultant from her Chicago-based home office. She has a BSBA from the University of Arizona with a double major in marketing and entrepreneurship.

She has led teams in both the areas of design and technical support. She has a strong background in team mentoring, leadership and reporting. Before that, Heather spent five years in the United States Navy followed by four years in the California Air National Guard.

    David Nelson is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Idaho. Prior to joining WoodWorks, he spent 12 years with the engineered lumber product division at Weyerhaeuser, in roles that included manager of code acceptance, market/product support engineer, and engineering lead – product testing. He also spent two years at a structural engineering firm in Seattle, Washington, where he gained experience in structural design, existing structure analysis and construction support. David received his bachelors and masters degrees in Civil/Structural Engineering from Washington State University. He is the 2013/2014 Vice President and immediate Past President of the Structural Engineers Association of Idaho and has been published in the Building Safety Journal.

    A licensed engineer in the State of California, Bill spent 15 years working in the wood industry before joining WoodWorks in 2014. He has led the strategic roll out of new product lines, managed technical teams and grown the long-term profitability of business units. He has also managed help desk support teams, trained users throughout North America on products and software, and provided skills training and development. Bill has a Master’s from Washington State University and an undergraduate degree from South Dakota State University.

    Jennifer Cover is a California licensed professional engineer and President & CEO of WoodWorks. She has been with WoodWorks since its inception and, prior to this role, was National Director of the Architectural & Engineering Solutions Division. Since 2006, she has also been an adjunct professor teaching timber design at the University of California, San Diego. Her background is in structural design, project management and strategic planning. She has an MS in Civil Engineering (emphasis in Construction Management) from the University of California, Berkeley and a BS in Structural Engineering from the University of California, San Diego. She is a member of the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California as well as the Structural Engineering Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
