Attendees will tour both sites with project team members and hear strategies for successful, code-compliant mass timber buildings with insight into detailing and construction techniques.

April 29, 2025 - Regional In-Person Event (Denver, CO) This presentation will walk through early project decisions and design steps, focusing on how to optimize projects for mass timber and how one early decision can influence others. Following a brief discussion of history and motivators, this presentation will introduce the new tall wood code provisions and construction types, as well as the technical research and testing that supported their adoption.

Regional In-Person Tour (Charlotte, NC) Join WoodWorks for a first-hand look at the Oxbow project, a seven-story, 423,000 sqft mass-timber mixed-use building featuring below-grade parking, 389 apartments and 13,803 sqft of retail space.

Regional In-Person Event (Philadelphia, PA) This presentation will cover some of the design considerations associated with mid-rise wood-frame buildings and will also focus on mid-rise mass timber construction. The presentation will also cover decisions that need to be made early in the design process, including grid layout, approach to achieving fire ratings, and lateral system selection.

May 15, 2025 - Regional In-Person Event (Sandy Springs, GA) This presentation will review the tall wood code provisions, including the three new construction types (IV-A, IV-B, and IV-C), and the technical research and testing that supported their adoption. The session will also cover critical aspects of design and construction unique to tall wood buildings, ranging from sprinkler requirements and shaft wall considerations to fire design for penetrations and acoustics performance.

May 29, 2025 - Regional In-Person Tour (Seattle, WA) Join us for an in-depth look at this three-story, 87,000-sft school building. The project's design incorporated feedback from the Alki community to meet their specific needs and educational standards. Attendees will tour the site with members of the project team, who will share strategies for successful, code-compliant mass timber projects.

June 4-7, 2025 - Regional In-Person Event (Boston, MA) Join acclaimed architects, designers, and building product manufacturers and earn HSW, GBCI, RIBA & AIA LUs. WoodWorks will host eight sessions on the expo floor at booth 2133.

June 18, 2025 - Regional In-Person Tour (Cypress, TX) As part of the Bridgeland mixed-use development by Howard Hughes, this 58,000 sqft building is defined by its gabled roof topped with a linear cupola and large timber framed balconies at each floor level.  The project utilizes CLT shear walls and DLT decking supported by a glulam frame.

September 4, 2025 - Regional In-Person Seminar (Waltham, MA) This presentation will introduce the new tall wood code provisions and construction types, as well as the technical research and testing that supported their adoption.. It will also analyze reasons for vertical movement (short and long term), provide methods of calculating anticipated movement, highlight detailing options to minimize and accommodate movement, and discuss strategies implemented on tall mass timber projects completed in North America.
