Mass Timber Tour: UC Riverside SoCal OASIS Park
November 19 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm PST
- In Person

Regional In-Person Tour (Riverside, CA)
This tour-only educational event will provide an in-depth look at UC Riverside SoCal OASIS Park, a new state-of-the-art facility in Riverside, California. The project is designed to bring together researchers, entrepreneurs, students, and community members in a collaborative hub focused on clean energy, agricultural technology, sustainable transportation, natural resource management, community health, and workforce readiness. Attendees will tour the under-construction project with members of the project team and discuss how mass timber, including CLT and glulam, is incorporated into the lobby, co-working spaces, and conference areas. The tour will highlight mass timber design, construction coordination, material selection, and detailing decisions for higher education and research facilities.
PPE:: This is an active jobsite; attendees are required to wear PPE (Safety vest, hard hat, safety glasses) and sturdy hard-soled flat shoes. A limited number of loaner PPE will be available to those who need it – please indicate this on your registration.
Credits: Attendees can earn 1.5 AIA/CES HSW LU, 1.5 PDH credits or 0.15 ICC credits

- Discuss typical construction practices for mass timber projects, including construction sequencing, site safety considerations, installation efficiency, and coordination with follow-on trades.
- Highlight structural and architectural uses of CLT and glulam through an in-person tour of an under-construction higher education and research facility, including exposed wood in shared lobby, co-working, and conference spaces.
- Describe mass timber connection and detailing strategies used to support code-compliant design, structural performance, fire-resistance considerations, and coordination between wood and non-wood structural systems.
- Explain how owners, architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and installers coordinate during project development to achieve successful mass timber implementation in a hybrid building.
