Regional In-Person Tour (Des Moines, IA)

This unique educational event will provide an in-depth look at two mass timber projects redefining multi-family housing design in Iowa. The first project is Iowa’s first residential mass timber building, Junction Lofts, which is also the state’s first building to be awarded the US Forest Service Wood Innovation Grant for Environmentally Progressive Design. Attendees will also tour Goldfinch Lofts, another mass timber/light-frame hybrid project in Des Moines. Goldfinch Lofts is the first Passive House-certified multi-family building in Iowa, and will be the first Zero Carbon Certified (by Living Future) Low Income Housing Tax Credit project in the country. Team members, including the developer behind both projects, will join the tour and share strategies for successful, code-compliant mass timber projects. The tour format encourages questions and discussion, and attendees can expect to leave with insights into the project’s design, detailing, material selection process, and construction techniques utilized throughout the building.

Following the tour join us for a networking happy hour at nearby St Kilda from 4:00-5:30 pm.

Credits: Attendees can earn 2.0 AIA/CES HSW LU, 2.0 PDH credits or 0.20 ICC credits
