Panel Holdown with Multi-Story Rod System

Panel bearing on concrete is connected to concrete with embed with welded threaded stud above. Rod system consists of full-height anchor rod at notch in the side of the panel with oversized plates and couplers as necessary to connect panel to rod.

Purpose: Transfer of vertical uplift load from panel to concrete.

Design Notes

  • Capacity of connection is dependent on parallel-to-grain capacity of panel at oversized washer or shear capacity of the panel.
  • Designer should consider wood shrinkage in final connection condition.
  • Refer to other details in this table for gravity load transfer along length of panel to concrete connection.
