Regional In-Person Tour (Washington, DC)

Discover how mass timber is helping shape the next generation of learning spaces at John Burroughs Elementary School in Washington, D.C. Join us for a tour of this modernization and expansion, where a historic 1920s campus meets the possibilities of modern mass timber design.

This modernization expands the existing school from 60,000 sqft to 95,000 sqft and features mass timber roofing and hybrid steel trusses. You’ll see how mass timber supports efficient installation and lower-carbon construction while bringing the warmth of exposed wood to the addition, courtyard, and common spaces. Members of the project team will lead the tour, sharing their experiences and lessons learned.

Following the tour join us for a networking happy hour from 4:30-5:30 pm.

PPE: This is an active jobsite; attendees are required to wear PPE (Safety vest, hard hat, safety glasses) and sturdy hard-soled flat shoes. A limited number of loaner PPE will be available to those who need it – please indicate this on your registration.
