Jason is a career construction executive with project management, operations, and business development experience in structural precast concrete, commercial general contracting, single-family residential development, and military construction. Areas of focus include strategic planning, management, client service, employee development, and proactive leadership. A designated Design Build Professional, Jason holds a Masters of Business Administration from Virginia Tech (2017), a Certificate of Construction Management from the University of California at Davis (2006), and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Norwich University (1998). He is a former Captain in the United States Marine Corps where he served in various leadership and staff roles as a Combat Engineer Officer. Jason in based in Greensboro, NC and manages the eastern US field team for WoodWorks.

Prior to joining WoodWorks, Steve worked in structural design and in technical sales, and he has been a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers - Structural Engineering Institute (ASCE-SEI), the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), and the Urban Land Institute (ULI).

A licensed Professional Engineer in Kentucky, Anthony received his BS and MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky, both with structural specialization. Before joining WoodWorks, he spent more than a decade working as a design consultant. He has experience in structural design, 3D modeling and detailing (REVIT), construction administration, inspections, and project management for a variety of project types, including: healthcare, office, retail, K-12/higher education, historical, industrial/distillery, municipal, military, multi-family, and mixed-used buildings. Anthony is also a Major in the United States Army Reserve where, as an Engineer Officer, he has held various leadership and staff positions.

Terry Pattillo has an accomplished background in both commercial architectural and construction administration, working in most states and across most occupancies.  Terry has strived to bring the strongest solution to the end user based on harmonizing sustainable design within budgetary constraints.  In 2012, he joined WoodWorks as Regional Director to continue to challenge design trends by educating and supporting best practices through smart selection of building materials and methods.  Terry holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Arizona and is a licensed architect and active member of the American Institute of Architects.

Jeff received his bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from the University of Florida in 2007 after serving 5 years in the United States Air Force as an F-16 crew chief; he holds a Certified General Contractor’s License and was previously a small business owner. Jeff has a diverse background that includes structural design, field engineering, threshold inspections and quality control of structures ranging from mid-rise buildings to sporting venues—developed during his time working in the commercial side of the building industry.

Marc has experience providing structural calculations, plans, specifications, construction administration and structural plan review services for a wide range of building types, including multi-family/mixed-use, education, commercial, office, institutional, and military.

Heather is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of California, and received her BS is Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo. Prior to joining WoodWorks, she spent 13 years working in the wood industry with a focus on the use of wood in commercial applications. She has led teams in both the areas of design and technical support. She has a strong background in team mentoring, leadership and reporting. Before that, Heather spent five years in the United States Navy followed by four years in the California Air National Guard.

Mark received his BS in Civil Engineering with a specialty in structures from Lehigh University, and has worked as an engineer in many capacities. He spent 11 years as a practicing structural engineer, eight years as a field engineer with Simpson Strong-Tie and six years in business development for a structural engineering firm. His primary experience includes structural calculations, design, construction document preparation, construction administration for new and existing commercial buildings, and post-installed anchorage to concrete. His structural engineering project experience includes residential, retail, hospitality, education, aviation, churches, and movie theaters. Mark is a licensed Professional Engineer in the states of Texas and Oklahoma.

Dr. Breneman is a licensed Structural Engineer and Professional Engineer in the State of California, a PE in the State of Washington, and Senior Technical Director – Mass Timber in the Project Resources & Solutions Division of WoodWorks. He received bachelor’s and master’s from the University of Florida and a doctorate from Stanford University. Scott has experience with structural design, seismic rehabilitation, and peer review of projects varying from single-family homes to high-rise hospitals. He is Past-President of the Structural Engineers Association of Central California, an associate member of the seismic subcommittee of ASCE 7 Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures, and a member of the PRG 320 CLT product standard committee. At WoodWorks, he provides project support and education to individuals designing wood buildings and oversees the development of technical educational content.

A licensed Architect and Structural Engineer in the state of California, Melissa has over fifteen years of professional experience spanning architectural design, structural engineering, digital fabrication and public relations. She has a broad perspective on the industry and technical design expertise from seismic to hurricane regions. Melissa has worked on a variety of building types, including civic, educational, multi-family residential, luxury single-family residential, military, museums, and transportation facilities. She has collaborated with innovative fabricators and encourages designers to engage fabricators early in the design process. Melissa has a BS in Architectural Engineering and a BS in Civil Engineering from Drexel University and also studied architecture at SCI-Arc.

Terry Malone is a licensed structural engineer in Washington, Oregon and Arizona. Prior to joining WoodWorks, he was a principal in consulting structural engineering firms in Washington and Oregon, conducted third-party structural plan reviews and has served as a faculty member at St. Martin’s College in Lacey, Washington. Terry has over 40 years of wood design experience and has taken an active role as a presenter providing seminars at state and local ICC chapters and professional engineering organizations. Terry is author of The Analysis of Irregular Shaped Structures: Diaphragms and Shear Walls, published by McGraw-Hill and ICC. He is a member of the Structural Engineers’ Association of Arizona and the International Code Council.

Ricky is WoodWorks’ in-house expert on tall wood buildings, providing analysis and guidance on architectural, fire and life safety, and structural design topics related to tall mass timber projects. He supports the AEC community both directly and collaboratively with WoodWorks Regional Directors, and guides the development of education and resources related to tall wood buildings in the U.S. Prior to this emphasis, Ricky’s role encompassed all building types and wood systems. He also has extensive experience in lead engineer roles related to structural design, project management and construction administration. Ricky is very active as a member of numerous committees and councils related to building design and is the Executive Director of the Structural Engineers Association of Vermont.

David Nelson is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Idaho. Prior to joining WoodWorks, he spent 12 years with the engineered lumber product division at Weyerhaeuser, in roles that included manager of code acceptance, market/product support engineer, and engineering lead – product testing. He also spent two years at a structural engineering firm in Seattle, Washington, where he gained experience in structural design, existing structure analysis and construction support. David received his bachelors and masters degrees in Civil/Structural Engineering from Washington State University. He is the 2013/2014 Vice President and immediate Past President of the Structural Engineers Association of Idaho and has been published in the Building Safety Journal.

Jennifer Cover is a California licensed professional engineer and President & CEO of WoodWorks. She has been with WoodWorks since its inception and, prior to this role, was National Director of the Architectural & Engineering Solutions Division. Since 2006, she has also been an adjunct professor teaching timber design at the University of California, San Diego. Her background is in structural design, project management and strategic planning. She has an MS in Civil Engineering (emphasis in Construction Management) from the University of California, Berkeley and a BS in Structural Engineering from the University of California, San Diego. She is a member of the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California as well as the Structural Engineering Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
