Part One | Exploring Tall Wood: New Code Provisions for Tall Timber Structures
Learn about the background and adoption of the new code provisions in the 2021 International Building Code, including the technical research and testing that supported their adoption, the new construction types introduced, and examples of successful tall wood buildings.
Part Two | Classrooms to Cafeterias: Mass Timber Design in Modern Schools
Explore how mass timber is transforming K–12 school design, with insights on cost, speed, sustainability, and code compliance. This presentation will cover the school construction market, design and performance considerations, and real-world case studies illustrating the successful implementation of mass timber in school projects across the country.
Tour | Franklin Road Academy Upper School
Get a first-hand look at mass timber in an educational project. Project team members will lead the tour of this 32,000-square-foot building—featuring a cross-laminated timber (CLT) roof—and share insights into the design, construction, and material selection process.
