Since shifting from a pilot to a national program in 2012, WoodWorks has maintained the consistent funding required to drive sustained market growth. By positioning wood as a solution to pressing challenges—like affordable and attainable housing—we’ve earned strong alignment with the architectural community, which is deeply aware of its power to create meaningful change.

Expanding wood use in non-traditional buildings creates a more sustainable, durable built environment while supporting forest health by increasing demand for high-value products from well-managed forests.

This map shows the location of the 214 directly influenced projects reported YTD. While concentrated in the major metro areas, it demonstrates the reach of our assistance across both primary and secondary markets.

REMOVING THE SILENT VETO on mass timber use

Distel Circle

After meeting his local RD at the International Mass Timber Conference, an architect emailed to discuss a unique affordable housing concept: four stories of volumetric modular light-frame wood units over a mass timber podium. After answering detailing questions, the RD presented a lunch and learn to discuss the nuances of hybrid multi-family design. The architect said, “Partnering with WoodWorks has been highly valuable to the development and construction of this project.”

Affordable Housing – 5-over-3

Alveare architecture firm Steinberg Hart called WoodWorks after reviewing some light-frame details in our CAD/Revit tool. They had unique conditions due to the tightness of the site and wanted to better understand the code requirements and Type III detailing methodology. After answering questions, the RD followed up with a presentation to familiarize their broader team with the detailing nuances of larger light-frame projects. Once complete, Alveare will be the area’s largest affordable housing community.

Steady Project Conversions, Larger Projects Drive Mid-Year Results

WoodWorks continued its strong performance in the first half of 2026, influencing 214 projects that advanced to construction while maintaining a consistent pace of project conversions over the past four quarters. Although construction activity continues to vary by project and market, the steady conversion rate reflects WoodWorks’ ongoing ability to help move wood projects from design into construction.

The first half of 2026 was distinguished not only by the number of projects, but also by their scale and impact. Average project size reached a record 135,000 square feet year-to-date, supported by several large multifamily and student housing projects and a higher proportion of mass timber construction. Together, these trends position WoodWorks to deliver greater market impact while continuing to build long-term demand for wood products.
