Keynote Topic: Mass Timber Fire Design: Code Requirements, Design Strategies and Case Studies
Mass timber is transforming the built environment, and with this innovation comes the need for new strategies, precision, and code compliance. This course explores the fundamental principles of mass timber construction, equipping professionals with the knowledge necessary to navigate building codes and design fire-resistance solutions.
Keynote Speakers:
Chelsea Drenick, SE | Regional Director, WoodWorks
Chelsea is a licensed structural engineer in the state of California. She received her BS in Engineering from Harvey Mudd College and MS in Civil Engineering from Stanford University. Chelsea spent nine years in structural design consulting prior to joining WoodWorks. Her experience is in a variety of sectors including residential, higher education and retrofit of existing and historic structures. She is passionate about sustainability and the use of wood as a building material to reduce the embodied carbon emissions of structures.
Parisa Nassiri, PE | Senior Fire Engineer, Holmes
With a focus on Structural Fire Engineering, Parisa analyzes the holistic performance of spaces in fire scenarios. Beyond saving her clients time, material, and labor costs, Parisa champions more sustainable and integrated building design. Through research-backed code consulting and educational outreach, she eases approvals for new construction types at impressive scales. From affordable housing complexes to corporate campuses, Parisa increasingly takes mass timber to new heights.
