This course explores the fundamental principles of mass timber construction\, equipping professionals with the knowledge necessary to navigate building codes and design fire-resistance solutions. \n  \nKeynote Speakers: \n \nChelsea Drenick\, SE | Regional Director\, WoodWorks \nChelsea is a licensed structural engineer in the state of California. She received her BS in Engineering from Harvey Mudd College and MS in Civil Engineering from Stanford University. Chelsea spent nine years in structural design consulting prior to joining WoodWorks. Her experience is in a variety of sectors including residential\, higher education and retrofit of existing and historic structures. She is passionate about sustainability and the use of wood as a building material to reduce the embodied carbon emissions of structures. \n  \n \nParisa Nassiri\, PE | Senior Fire Engineer\, Holmes \nWith a focus on Structural Fire Engineering\, Parisa analyzes the holistic performance of spaces in fire scenarios. Beyond saving her clients time\, material\, and labor costs\, Parisa champions more sustainable and integrated building design. Through research-backed code consulting and educational outreach\, she eases approvals for new construction types at impressive scales.
