SUMMARY:Mass Timber Tour: Bush Middle School
DESCRIPTION:Regional In-Person Tour (Seattle\, WA)\n\n\nThis unique educational event will provide an in-depth look at the new Bush Middle School underway in Seattle\, WA. Designers of the two-story\, 24\,000-square-foot project used CLT panels and glulam framing to create a sustainable\, biophilic building that will support students and faculty\, with spaces including classrooms\, offices\, a dining area\, an administrative wing\, and common areas. Attendees will tour the site with members of the project team\, who will share strategies for successful\, code-compliant mass timber projects\, including insight into design\, detailing\, and construction techniques utilized throughout the building. The tour format encourages questions and discussion\, and attendees can expect to leave with insights into the project\, from early design decisions to execution. \n  \nCredits: Attendees can earn 1.5 AIA/CES HSW LU\, 1.5 PDH credits or 0.15 ICC credits \n  \nSpeaker: \n \nMichael Muller\, PE\, SE | WoodWorks \nMichael is a licensed engineer in California and Washington with more than a decade of experience working as a structural engineering consultant based in the Pacific Northwest. Over his career\, Michael has successfully managed many acclaimed projects in the residential\, retail\, hospitality\, and office market sectors. He brings a keen eye for efficiency in materials and construction and experience working internationally in parts of the world known for uniquely challenging seismic and other weather or nature-related extremes.
