SUMMARY:Frame it Right: Optimizing Size & Framing Efficiency in Mid-Rise Buildings
DESCRIPTION:Regional In-Person Seminar (Buena Park\, CA)\n\n\nIncreasingly\, building designers and developers are looking to mid-rise wood construction as a cost-effective and sustainable solution for commercial and multi-family buildings. This presentation will review the allowable construction types\, with an emphasis on the opportunities and advantages of using light-frame wood in Types III and V. Presenters will cover design considerations associated with these projects\, including how to maximize height and area through the use of sprinklers\, open frontage\, sloping sites\, podiums\, and mezzanines. Common framing methods will also be discussed in the context of ensuring that projects are designed to be structurally sound\, constructable\, and code compliant. \nIncludes lunch. Seminar ends at 12:50 followed by lunch and Q&A. \n  \nSpeakers: \nMike Romanowski\, SE | WoodWorks \nLindsey Kuster\, PE | APA – The Engineered Wood Association \n  \nCredits: Attendees can earn 2.0 AIA/CES HSW LUs\, 2.0 PDH credits or 0.2 ICC credits \n  \nLocation: \nWestern States Carpenters Training Fund\, \nBuena Park Training Center \n7111 Firestone Blvd. Classroom 2 \nBuena Park\, CA 90621-8447 \nFree parking available (south lot recommended) \nDirections \n  \nFor questions or additional information\, please contact: \nJaime Krohn\, CMP | jaime@woodworks.org | (312) 841-8272 \n  \nImage: Stella\, DesignARC\, Taylor and Syfan\, Photo Lawrence Anderson/Esto
