The USDA and Softwood Lumber Board (SLB) chose WoodWorks’ September 14 board meeting to formally continue their partnership to grow demand for wood products as a natural climate solution. Their partnership is great recognition of the role wood products play in improving forest health, decreasing the carbon footprint of our built environment and creating jobs in rural communities – and WoodWorks is proud to be the partnership’s premier program helping AECs design and construct wood buildings. Special guests included U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Thomas Vilsack, USDA Forest Service Chief Randy Moore, SLB Chair Caroline Dauzat, and SLB President and CEO Cees de Jager.

Said Secretary Vilsack, “For many years now, the USDA and SLB have had a constructive and positive partnership, and this new MOU is another step as we work together to create and support markets for advancing wood products as carbon solutions for commercial buildings and resilient forests.”
