SUMMARY:Mass Timber On Site: Sacramento Public School Campus Tour
DESCRIPTION:Regional In-Person Tour (Sacramento\, CA)\n\n\nThis unique educational event will provide an in-depth look at the all-mass timber modernization project at a public school in West Sacramento\, comprised of seven buildings and a renovation. Designers utilized glulam and cross-laminated timber (CLT) on the project\, which includes classrooms\, an administration building\, and a library. Attendees will tour the site with team members and learn about detailing and construction techniques utilized throughout the building. The tour format encourages questions and discussion\, and attendees can expect to leave with insights into material and detail selection\, as well as how the utilization of wood contributes to biophilic design and student well-being. Check out the project on the WoodWorks Innovation Network (WIN) here. \n  \nPlease join us after the tour for networking and refreshments. \n  \nCredits: Attendees can earn 1.5 AIA HSW\, .015 ICC \n  \nPPE: PPE required. Please bring your own PPE\, a limited amount will be available onsite. \n  \nLocation: \nWashington USD Elkhorn Village Campus Modernization \n750 Cummins Way \nWest Sacramento CA 95605 \nMap \n  \nStreet parking available. \n  \nFor questions or additional information\, please contact: \nJaime Krohn\, CMP | jaime@woodworks.org | (312) 841-8272 \n  \nRendering: Sacramento Public School\, TimberQuest

SUMMARY:IBC Code Strategies for Light-Frame and Mass Timber Construction
DESCRIPTION:Regional Online Seminar (OR\, ID-South\, HI)\n\n\nOpportunities for light-frame wood and mass timber construction have never been greater\, especially now that the International Building Code (IBC) allows up to 18 stories with mass timber. Choosing the right construction type\, however\, is critical—and increasingly complex. \n  \nThis presentation walks through logical\, code-compliant steps for key considerations\, including allowable building size\, separation requirements\, detailing\, and special provisions. With a focus on Construction Types III\, IV\, and V\, examples\, calculations\, and details will illustrate how to navigate code requirements for single-occupancy and mixed-use buildings while maximizing building size and meeting fire and life-safety requirements. \n  \nSpeaker: Kate Carrigg\, PE | WoodWorks \n  \nCredits: Attendees can earn 2.0 AIA/CES HSW LUs\, 2.0 PDH credits or 0.2 ICC credits \n  \nOnline Attendees: \n\nWoodWorks will send each attendee a certificate of completion within 2 weeks via email.\nPlease note that to receive a certificate\, attendees must stay for the duration of the event.\n\n  \nFor questions or additional information\, please contact: \nJaime Krohn\, CMP | jaime@woodworks.org | (312) 841-8272 \n  \nImage: Celeste\, BDE Architecture\, Photo courtesy of IMEG
