SUMMARY:Exploring Tall Timber Design & New Code Provisions
DESCRIPTION:Regional Online Seminar (DC\, DE\, MD\, VA\, WV)\n\n\nThe 2021 International Building Code (IBC) introduced changes allowing up to 18 stories of mass timber construction\, creating new opportunities for tall wood design. This presentation will review the tall wood code provisions\, including the three new construction types (IV-A\, IV-B\, and IV-C)\, and the technical research and testing that supported their adoption. The session will also cover critical aspects of design and construction unique to tall wood buildings\, ranging from sprinkler requirements and shaft wall considerations to fire design for penetrations and acoustics performance. \n  \nHost: John O’Donald II\, PE | WoodWorks \n  \nCredits: Attendees can earn 2.0 AIA/CES HSW LUs\, 2.0 PDH credits or 0.2 ICC credits \n  \nOnline Attendees: \n\nWoodWorks will send each attendee a certificate of completion within 2 weeks via email.\nPlease note that to receive a certificate\, attendees must stay for the duration of the event.\n\n  \nFor questions or additional information\, please contact: \nLeeAnn Charpentier\, CMP | leeann.charpentier@woodworks.org | (301) 633-0330 \n  \nRendering: CoStar Group

SUMMARY:Designing and Building with Mass Timber: Design\, Planning and Performance
DESCRIPTION:Regional Online Seminar (NY)\nHow can architects\, engineers\, and contractors collaborate to meet the growing demand for mass timber buildings? While developers across the country are pursuing mass timber projects\, firms have varying degrees of familiarity with the products and practicalities of designing\, sourcing\, and building a modern mass timber structure. \nThis presentation builds on the spirit of shared learning within the mass timber community to provide an overview of products\, planning\, design\, and implementation techniques to maximize the benefits these buildings can deliver. The discussion will include: \n\nBest practices for interaction between manufacturer\, design team\, and pre-construction manager that can lead to cost efficiency and safety on-site\n\n\nPotential construction schedule savings and construction fire safety practices when using prefabricated mass timber elements\n\n\nMass timber’s benefits\, including structural versatility\, prefabrication\, lighter carbon footprint\, and reduced labor costs\n\n  \nHost: Momo Sun\, PE\, PEng\, LEED Green Associate | WoodWorks \n  \nCredits: Attendees can earn 2.0 AIA/CES HSW LUs\, 2.0 PDH credits or 0.2 ICC credits \n  \nOnline Attendees: \n\nWoodWorks will send each attendee a certificate of completion within 2 weeks via email.\nPlease note that to receive a certificate\, attendees must stay for the duration of the event.\n\n  \nFor questions or additional information\, please contact: \nLeeAnn Charpentier\, CMP |leeann.charpentier@woodworks.org|(301) 633-0330 \n  \nImage: Nanotronics Smart Factory / Rogers Partners / Silman / Photo Albert Vecerka
