SUMMARY:Frame it Right: Optimizing Size & Framing Efficiency in Mid-Rise Buildings
DESCRIPTION:Regional Online & In-Person Event (Atlanta\, GA)\n\n\nIncreasingly\, building designers and developers are looking to mid-rise wood construction as a cost-effective and sustainable solution for commercial and multi-family buildings. This presentation will review the allowable construction types\, with an emphasis on the opportunities and advantages of using light-frame wood in Types III and V. Presenters will cover design considerations associated with these projects\, including how to maximize height and area through the use of sprinklers\, open frontage\, sloping sites\, podiums\, and mezzanines. Common framing methods will also be discussed in the context of ensuring that projects are designed to be structurally sound\, constructable\, and code compliant. \n  \nCredits: Attendees can earn 2.0 AIA/CES HSW LUs\, 2.0 PDH credits or 0.2 ICC credits \n  \nSpeakers: \nLaura Cullen\, PE\, WoodWorks \nPatrick Schleisman\, Engineered Wood Specialist\, APA-The Engineered Wood Association \n  \nIn-Person Attendees: \nIn-person includes Q&A and networking happy hour 4:00 – 6:00 pm \nSeminar Venue: \nAMA Atlanta Executive Conference Center \n1170 Peachtree Street\, NE \n3rd Floor \nAtlanta\, GA 30309 \nMap & Directions \nNetworking Happy Hour Venue: \nPour Taproom Midtown \n1180 Peachtree Street NE \nAtlanta\, GA 30309 \nMap & Directions \n  \nOnline Attendees: \n\nWoodWorks will send each attendee a certificate of completion within 2 weeks via email.\nPlease note that to receive a certificate\, attendees must stay for the duration of the event.\n\n  \nFor questions or additional information\, please contact: \nLeeAnn Charpentier\, CMP | leeann.charpentier@woodworks.org | (301) 633-0330 \n  \nImage: Crescent Terminus\, Lord Aeck Sargent\, SCA Consulting Engineers\, photo Richard Lubrant
