Frame it Right: The Basics and Beyond for Light-frame Construction
October 30 @ 10:30 am - 1:30 pm PDT
- In Person
Regional In-Person Seminar (Buena Park, CA)
The development of mid-rise wood commercial and multifamily buildings is significantly increasing, and designers need to understand options for designing these project types with fire-resistant detailing and construction. This presentation will focus on the most common detailing issues and areas of misunderstanding related to exterior walls and their intersection with rated floor assemblies, along with detailing for elevator, stair, and mechanical shafts. Additionally, there will be a discussion on the most common wood construction framing errors found on job sites and solutions to avoid these errors. Other topics covered will be mid-rise light-frame opportunities and code-specified building sizes, detailing code requirements, code compliance, and rationale for approval, emphasizing constructability and practicality.
Please join us after the seminar for lunch and networking.
