Regional In-Person Seminar (Long Beach, CA)

Opportunities for the built environment to help address carbon-related issues are at the forefront of discussions within the building design and construction community. The spotlight once held by operational energy efficiency has shifted towards material choice and embodied carbon—in particular, which building products should be specified to achieve a more sustainable structure. This course examines the use of mass timber in construction and the positive environmental benefits it can bring to a project, with case studies illustrating wood’s impact on sustainability outcomes. Basic carbon-related terminology and carbon sequestration will be reviewed, along with a discussion about wood construction related to North American forests, sustainable forest management, and overall forest health.

Please join us for lunch following the seminar.
