Mass Timber Building Tour (Hempstead, NY)
The Evergreen Charter School in Hempstead, NY is one of the East Coast’s first cross-laminated timber (CLT) schools. The project was designed by Martin Hopp Architect (MHA) with Odeh Engineers and is being built by Consigli. It’s also among six winners of the Softwood Lumber Board (SLB) and USDA Forest Service (USDA) 2022 Mass Timber Competition: Building to Net-Zero Carbon.
Planned for completion in 2024, this five-story, 85,000 SF utilizes cross-laminated timber (CLT), glue-laminated timber (GLT or glulam), wood-concrete composite systems, and open-web trusses. Learn more about the Evergreen Charter school on the WoodWorks blog or WoodWorks Innovation Network.
The tour will be led by Momo Sun, WoodWorks Regional Director, and members of the design team. On-site networking will follow the tour.
