Designing and Engineering Mass Timber Buildings in the Pacific Northwest

Part 1 will take a detailed look at a number of critical design and construction topics for tall timber buildings, including high-rise and sprinkler requirements, options for lateral force-resisting systems, fire design for penetrations, connections and abutting panels, shaft wall considerations, acoustics performance, and construction fire safety practices.
Part 2 will cover the detailing and design requirements for the newly defined CLT shear walls and diaphragms found in the SPDWS and the range of seismic design parameters (e.g., R values) recognized for CLT shear wall in ASCE 7-22.
