Echo Street West: A Firsthand Look at Mass Timber Construction

This unique educational event will provide an in-depth look at the Echo Street West project in Atlanta, Georgia. Once completed, Echo Street West will be a 273,000 square foot Class A office building in the new 19-acre Echo Street West development in Atlanta, GA. The building features a subterranean 635-space covered concrete parking deck, with four stories of steel and mass timber structure above. This unique hybrid of exposed cross-laminated timber floor and roof, with exposed steel structural steel beams and columns offers an opportunity to study the benefits of this model, the coordination of dissimilar materials, and the connection solutions utilized by the design team. Attendees will tour the site with project team members, who will share information on detailing and construction techniques utilized throughout the building, noting lessons learned. The tour format encourages questions and discussion, and attendees can expect to leave not only with insights into the project’s design and execution, but the factors that influenced material and detail selection.

Following the tour, attendees are invited to attend a networking happy hour from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

• Attendees are required to wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, hard hats and vests. WoodWorks will provide PPE for those needing it – please indicate this on your registration.
