WEBINAR – Non-Structural Provisions for Multi-Story Wood Framed Buildings

This presentation highlights guidelines for navigating the maze of non-structural provisions in the current building code governing multi-story wood-frame buildings. Topics will include the appropriate path for a code study, whether it’s a multi-residential, commercial or mixed-use all-wood building, a Type I podium building utilizing the special provisions of section 510.2 or a five/six-story residential building of Type IIIA construction.
James E. Churchill, PE, is President of Churchill Engineering, Inc., where he provides building code services such as fire protection/life safety analysis, ADA and accessibility studies, and performance-based/alternative design method studies for large code-intensive projects. Prior to forming Churchill Engineering, he was Assistant Manager for the San Diego Regional Office of Schirmer Engineering Corporation and a Structural Engineering Senior and Project Manager for the City of San Diego. James has a BS and MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts. He is a registered Civil Engineer in the states of California and Hawaii, and is affiliated with the International Code Council and the National Fire Protection Association.
