WEBINAR – Designing Wood-frame Schools in the Bethel School District

This presentation will investigate the use of wood framing in Washington State’s Bethel School District, with an emphasis on energy efficiency, building costs and benefits to the local community. It will be delivered by the District’s Director of Construction & Planning, who was instrumental in the development of green building standards for public schools and under whose leadership the District has constructed 10 schools utilizing Washington State Sustainable Protocols.
James Hansen, Bethel School District
James Hansen is the Director of Construction & Planning for Bethel Public Schools, the 13th largest school district in the State of Washington, located just south of Tacoma in unincorporated Pierce County. Jim has 38 years’ experience in public school construction and planning. Mr. Hansen’s work experience has included being a project manager and estimator for private construction firms, project manager with the Alachua Public Schools in Gainesville, Florida, Facilities Planner and Assistant for Support Services with the Puyallup School District in Pierce County Washington. Mr. Hansen was part of a core team of professionals in the State of Washington to help develop green building standards for public schools. Under his leadership Bethel School District has constructed 10 schools utilizing Washington State Sustainable Protocols and has been involved with school projects with a total value exceeding $1 billion dollars.
