This unique educational event will provide an in-depth look at Southern Yellow Pine timber used in non-residential and multi-family construction, with an emphasis on sustainable timber management, lean lumber manufacturing, and the resources available to designers to demonstrate the advantages of wood structures to their clients. It will include a two-hour on-site tour of a sustainably managed forest, where participants will witness firsthand the various stages of growth and silviculture techniques used in Southern Yellow Pine land management. It will also include a two-hour mill tour where participants will have the opportunity to see the computer and machine technology used in log assessment, debarking, computer numerical control (CNC) cutting, grading, co-generation, kiln drying and more.
