WoodWorks is creating opportunities for the AEC community to network and promote projects, while providing services such as training, and helping developers find qualified professionals to create mass timber project teams.
Mass Timber Construction Management Training
A core element of this initiative is the Mass Timber Construction Management Training Program, which will feature a variety of union and non-union training opportunities related to mass timber installation and project management.
Installer training workshops are currently being offered collaboratively with the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters (CRCC) Apprentice & Training Program. Workshops are open to affiliated journeyman carpenters and contractors who are signatory to the International Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners.

Coming soon: A full-day workshop for General Contractors focused on pre-construction and project management, plus non-union training opportunities.
Installers and contractors who receive training through these and other workshops will qualify to have their skills and projects promoted as part of the Professional Affiliate Program.
PA Program Launch + Website
The Professional Affiliate Program was formally launched with a dinner for 100 developers, architects, engineers and contractors in conjunction with the International Mass Timber Conference (which WoodWorks co-hosted). Project information was made available, including plans, so people new to mass timber could get a sense of how others are approaching their designs. The night was a huge success and other opportunities are in the works!
We’re also developing a Professional Affiliate website, which will serve as a hub for the mass timber design and construction community. Please stay tuned!
*Workshops will be listed on the CCRC Apprentice & Training Program website when available.
