In-depth Training from the Experts
This in-depth two-day training program is provided by the RISA staff of professional engineers and focuses on the software itself as well as the integrated wood features. Find out how you can design all-wood and hybrid structures more quickly and easily using the new RISA update—all for just $250.
Day 1 – This interactive, fast-paced session covers RISA-3D and RISAFloor modeling basics with an emphasis on wood design. Learn how to design members per the National Design Specification® for Wood Construction (NDS®) for a variety of wood materials including standard dimensional lumber, glulams, parallams, LVLs and I-Joists. Topics covered include loading for different load types (dead, live, wind, etc.), boundary conditions and end releases, graphic editing features, spreadsheet operations and results review and display.
Day 2 – With a solid grounding in the software, the focus will shift to more advanced topics as well as interaction between RISAFloor and RISA-3D. Topics include sloped roof modeling, advanced shear wall design, rigid and flexible diaphragm analysis and design, hold-down and strap analysis and design, wind and seismic load generation and multi-material modeling. Learn how to design your gravity system in RISAFloor and your lateral system in RISA-3D. This course ends with information on a real-world structure that encompasses all of the topics covered during the training.
Eligibility
To receive this two-day training package for just $250, participants' firms must be located in California and participants must agree to provide information on the next three wood structures designed by their firm—including type of building, value of construction and value/volume of wood.
Continuing Education Credits
Each day of RISA training provides 8 PDH units for the two-day course.
