Earn AIA credits at your desk on your own schedule
Although live webinars provide the advantage of being able to ask questions, it isn’t always possible to participate—even when you want the information. Now you can learn at your desk any time (and earn education credits) with topical webinars from the WoodWorks Online Training Library. Topics available so far include life cycle assessment (LCA), fire protection, 5-over-1 mid-rise podium design, timber frame construction, green building, and more!

CalGREEN becomes first building code to incorporate LCA
California has demonstrated its commitment to addressing climate change by adopting the first building code to specifically encourage life cycle assessment (LCA) in the selection of materials. Widely recognized by the international scientific community, LCA allows the objective comparison of materials, assemblies and even whole buildings, over the course of their entire lives, from resource extraction through disposal or re-use. It is commonly used to compare building materials such as wood, steel and concrete, and has led scientists in Europe and North America to the same conclusion: compared to the alternatives, wood buildings produce less greenhouse gases, air pollution and water pollution, and require less energy across their life cycle.
